I started my business in 1995. I had always wanted to be my own boss - I wasn't sure what I was going to do, but I knew I wanted my own business. I had been working as a bookkeeper for a large electrical contractor for 10 years and decided that was it. Bookkeeping. 2 years ago I decided I wanted to take my 25+ years of knowledge and use it to educate small business owners who were lost in how to setup and understand their bookkeeping for their businesses.
WHAT DO YOU SELL?I sell my expertise, my 25+ years of accounting for small businesses and my amazing ability to make it all understandable for small business owners and give them the support they need. I offer in-depth reviews, setup of systems, guidance and training, including a group coaching program.WHO IS YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE?I work with small businesses owners who are just starting or have been in business for up to several years. If they have made no money yet or have made hundreds of thousands, but need to set up a do-able bookkeeping system - whether it be a spreadsheet or Quickbooks, helping them get their numbers in order.WHAT 3 PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
1) Being successfully self-employed for 23 years. Taking a very big leap from a really great paying job into the world of self-employment WAY BEFORE THE INTERNET. The world in Northern Michigan was a much smaller place 23 years ago.2) Being self-taught and being willing to learn from the best in my industry - being willing to soak up everything they wanted to teach me and making all that work for my clients. I still have those long-term relationships to this day and I value them greatly.
WHAT MAKES YOUR BUSINESS STORY UNIQUE?
I am self-taught and have spent the past 25+ years learning from the best CPA's and Accountants on the planet along with mixing in college classes and other continuing and extended education. I listen to my clients and dig into understanding how they learn. What will work for them and then I follow through until I know they are on track.I do not come from a "long line of entrepreneurial family members". My Gramma worked her ass off. My Mom worked her ass off. Those were my role models - not self-employed, just hard workers and did whatever they had to do to take care of family. I tell everyone - I have no idea why I had such a strong drive to be self-employed at a young age. All I can think of is that I have never liked being told what to do and if my mother were here today I am guessing she would agree. I have always loved helping people and learning about the many, many businesses out there. I found my true passion in digging into a person's business and life and what makes it all tick, then finding the perfect systems to help them understand the numbers and make those numbers work for them. I LOVE IT!
