Tell us a bit about your background and what prompted you to think about pursuing this idea?

My wife and I are both working parents in the NYC area and residents of New Jersey. We have two boys (9 and 6 years old) and when they were younger, we struggled to find quality, reliable care while pursing our careers. We were enrolled in a number of daycares, had nannies and babysitters, but we weren’t happy with any of the options, so we needed and wanted to work on a solution that catered to busy working parents.

With so many options for preschools and child care, where did you feel the void was and how will Wayne’s Lightbridge Academy differentiate itself?

In our quest to find a town to open a small business we came across Wayne. It has a thriving community filled with young families who need quality care for their children – making it the perfect fit for our center.

Tell us more about the programs and curriculum you’ll be offering and what foundation you envision providing for the students?

The Seedlings Early Childhood Education Curriculum focuses on all areas of a child's growth helping them to achieve their full potential. By seeing the letters, signing the words and hearing the sounds, children learn through a multi-sensory approach. 

• STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) concepts are taught at every age, encouraging analytical thought, reasoning skills and critical thinking while sparking creativity. 
• Reading & writing readiness program - helps children learn with hands-on lessons that develop motor skills and prepares them to read and write. 
• Singing Sprouts - allows children to explore music through singing, movement, instruments, a variety of cultures and styles, as well as rhythms and patterns. 
• Spanish Sprouts - teach the basics of counting, colors, readings and every day communication. 
• Signing Sprouts - fosters communication and language development; American Sign Language is used throughout all programs and age groups.

What are you most excited about?

We are excited and proud to be a part of the Wayne community and have the opportunity to serve local families and be a support to them!

What would parents of potential students be surprised to know about you?

Keeping families connected is a priority for us and we have many ways to accomplish that. Our ParentView Online Monitoring System is available for real-time access into your child’s classroom and our Parent eCommunication app is used to send ongoing updates on your child from classroom reminders, to photos, videos and daily reports.

For new mothers, we have an onsite bonding room that provides an opportunity for new mothers to nurse or spend time with their little ones. Also, our infant caregivers are also trained through our BottleBridge certification program and are ready to support nursing infants and mothers. Our team possess a depth of knowledge on the proper feeding of bottle fed expressed milk, understanding the benefits of breastfeeding an infant as well as proper handling and storage of breast milk.

We believe that its not enough to just care and educate children, parents need care too!
