HOW TO DEEP CLEAN YOUR KITCHEN
Deep cleaning a kitchen is going to require some elbow grease. With a little planning and the right materials, the job doesn't have to feel overwhelming or take over an entire weekend. It helps to provide a healthier working environment for family members, says the founder of NW Maids Cleaning Service. Here's how to deep clean your kitchen when you're not sure where to start.Start with The CabinetsIf your kitchen design is like most, you have kitchen cabinets installed over appliances and countertops. It's for this reason that you should start your kitchen deep clean with the pantry and cupboards. Otherwise, you will be dropping dust and grime over the stuff you have already cleaned, making your job harder.Remove everything from the cupboards and use warm soapy water to get the surfaces inside and out sparkly clean. Start at the top and work your way down.Continue with the Oven and StoveYour next target should be the oven and stovetop. Modern ovens often have a self-cleaning feature, so take advantage of that if you can.Use a degreaser and oven cleaner to make your job a little easier if it isn't the self-cleaning type, but you can cut down on the amount of hard scrubbing by placing a pot of boiled water inside the oven for an hour or so.The Fridge and the MicrowaveThe best way to get a fridge clean is to empty it first. Fill you sink with warm water so you can soak fridge trays that have dried up sauce leaks, milk spills, and other unmentionables that have become caked on.As you're removing everything, be sure to check expiry dates - if in doubt, throw it out.Microwaves shouldn't give you too much trouble, but if any spills are baked on, you can nuke a cup of water and use the steam to soften everything up.Countertops, Backsplash and SinkYou've probably been diligent about wiping down the countertops regularly, so they won't require much attention – warm soapy water and a soft cloth should do the trick for most surfaces. The backsplash can also be cleaned with a general-purpose cleaner. If the grout is looking worse for wear, you can get good results with a little bleach and an old toothbrush to scrub between the tiles.Wipe Down AppliancesNow all that's needed is a wipe down of the appliances. Warm soapy water is your go-to here as well, but a cleaner made with lemon juice, vinegar, and water will do wonders for your stainless-steel appliances. You're pretty much done by now. All that's needed is to clean the floor of all the grime and dust that's collected there during your cleaning frenzy. If you've had enough of looking at an untidy mess, these tips should help you deep clean your kitchen in just a few hours. You don't have to do it all in one hit. Pick one or two tasks to do every week and rotate each job as needed.
